Stereo mix or stems — what we need
Mixing at Nohexevo usually starts with a brief: genre, references, loudness goals and whether you attend. A finished stereo mix is €245 per track; attended mixing is €108 per hour. Extra stem packs delivered later are €92 each — see Mixing.
Stems are grouped tracks (drums, bass, guitars, keys, vocals …), each from song start to end, same length and sample rate. A “stem pack” here is a logical group, not necessarily every single mic — ask if you are unsure how fine to split.
Technical baseline
Export linear: 24-bit WAV at 48 kHz (44.1 kHz only if the project was 44.1 from day one — note it). No MP3 intermediates, no limiter on each stem bus. Aim for headroom: peaks well below 0 dBFS so EQ and compression have room.
All stems must start sample-aligned — leading silence is fine if it matches everywhere. Disable bus effects only when we agree; sometimes amp or drum bus character should stay in the stem. Note tempo, key, capo or varispeed if used.
Folders, naming and notes
One folder per song, subfolder stems and optional refs for reference MP3 or links. ASCII names: Songname_drums.wav, Songname_bassDI.wav, Songname_vox_lead.wav. Avoid cryptic take numbers — vox_lead_03 beats Audio_17.
Add a short readme.txt: BPM, time signature, desired vocal level, known issues (“bleed on snare”, “click in intro”). Name DAW version and critical plugins if they matter. That speeds first load in our Wien control room.
Vocals, backing and edit choices
Lead vocals: one comp per section or separate takes plus notes on which to comp — we include 2 revision rounds in the agreed mix package. Backings separate from adlibs; don’t hard-pan doubles before the mix if the engineer should place them.
De-ess and pitch: either print in the stem or deliver raw and discuss in mix. Contradictory notes cost time. Tracking at Vocal recording often gives you consistent names from the start.
Upload, privacy and retention
Send large packages via a link you tested, or hand off encrypted media at the studio. Avoid personal data in file names — use song titles. Processing and retention: Privacy policy; we delete project data after 12 months unless contracted otherwise.
B2B invoices: 14 days payment term; booking deposit 30% as quoted. Pre-upload questions: Contact or 01 405 82 16.
Attended vs offline in Vienna
Attended sessions help when arrangement choices need live decisions — €108 per hour with engineer. Offline saves travel: you send stems, we return drafts by stream or file. Hours: Tue–Sat 10–22, evenings by appointment; directions U3 underground station Neubaugasse (about 4 minutes on foot). Tram line 49 stop Neubaugasse. From Westbahnhof take U3 towards Simmering to Neubaugasse..
Allow two to four working days for a first mix after complete delivery, depending on load. We reply to requests within 2 working days. Missing stems pause the clock — re-delivery at the stem pack rate.
Master and loudness next
The stereo mix should not be squashed to streaming loudness before mastering. Hand off to Mastering as 24-bit WAV with target loudness notes. Background on LUFS: Streaming loudness for master.
If you master yourself, still ask for an unlimited mix print — platforms normalize differently; clean headroom is the best base.
