Nohexevo

Vocal recording

Lead vocals, backing layers and spoken word in an iso booth — with an engineer in the control room who shapes mic choice, levels and headphone mix around your voice.

Vocal take with headphones and pop filter in small booth.

A vocal often carries the track more than any single instrument. That is why we start each session at Nohexevo by listening: how does your voice feel today, which tempo and dynamics fit the backing? Only then do we move into the booth — no rushing, but a clear plan for the time you booked.

You can arrive with a finished beat, exported session files or just lyrics and reference tracks. We work with solo artists, rappers, choirs, voice-over trials and bands adding vocals after a live session. Two iso booths are available; for singing we use the smaller, dry-tuned booth with sight lines to the desk.

Workflow

  1. Brief

Send backing tracks, lyrics and references — or bring them on a drive. We confirm tempo, key and delivery formats before the date.

  2. Setup

Mic comparison, pop filter, headphone mix and gain in the booth. Ten to twenty minutes so you feel confident in the cans.

  3. Takes

Full passes first, then targeted sections. The engineer flags strong takes and suggests breaks when your voice tires.

  4. Export

Comping by agreement, clear file naming, WAV export the same day or the next — depending on the time booked.

Who this service is for

Vocal recording is for anyone who needs a clean, editable vocal track — not one genre only. Pop singles, German-language rap, jazz vocals on backing, trailer voice or short spoken pieces for social: the workflow stays the same while mic and dynamics choices change.

Minimum age for bookings without a guardian on site: 16. Younger artists are welcome by arrangement with written consent and supervision. If you are unsure your material fits, describe it via contact — we usually reply within 2 business days.

Room, gear and engineer

Nohexevo is on Lindengasse in Neubau — 3 rooms in total, including a 38 m² live area and 2 iso booths. For vocals we use the vocal-focused booth; the desk offers 24 inputs and 16 mic preamps.

An engineer is present throughout: routing, backup and talkback. You do not need to operate a DAW — we handle latency, monitoring and tidy session structure. More about the studio on about us and services.

How a typical session runs

After setup we record full passes, then section by section: chorus doubles, ad-libs, harmony tracks. Breaks are part of the plan — a tired voice costs more time than a short rest.

If you want attended mixing, say so upfront; mixing itself is a separate service (mixing). For vocal-only bookings we deliver editable tracks for any common DAW. Preparation tips: vocal prep before the session.

What to bring

  • Backing or stems as WAV, ideally without guide vocal, plus tempo and key
  • Lyrics — printed or digital — with repeat marks
  • Two or three reference tracks whose vocal tone you like
  • Your own headphones if you prefer; otherwise we provide pairs

Avoid very cold drinks or heavy dairy right before the session if you are sensitive. Water is available in the booth. If you are ill, we prefer to reschedule rather than force poor takes — see FAQ on cancellation.

Delivery, formats and archive

Default is 24-bit / 48 kHz WAV from song start including offset. On request we can deliver the native session or raw takes without comping — agreed at briefing. Handover via download link or your drive.

We keep project files for 12 months after the last edit, then delete per our privacy policy. Back up locally soon. Light comping and breath edits can fit inside session time; heavy tuning is not a substitute for good takes and is quoted separately.

Pricing, VAT and booking

All listed amounts are final prices including 20 % VAT. Hourly rates start at the reserved block including setup; the half-day covers four hours with engineer.

Not included

Explicitly excluded: finished mixing or mastering, hired musicians, translation, parking search on Lindengasse. Overtime is billed in 15-minute steps when the calendar allows.

FAQ

How long do I need for one song?

For a three- to four-minute track with lead, doubles and short ad-libs, many artists plan two to four hours including setup. Dense arrangements or many harmony layers often suit a half-day block.

Can someone sit in the control room?

One or two guests are fine if they do not distract the booth. Larger groups need a quick capacity check — the live room allows up to 7 people, the vocal booth is tighter.

Do you deliver a finished mix?

Yes, as separate mixing. Many clients record vocals only and mix elsewhere — we export clearly named tracks for your pipeline.

What if I am sick on the session day?

Contact us as early as you can. More than 7 days ahead, rescheduling is free; closer dates follow terms and conditions. With acute hoarseness we reschedule rather than rush unusable takes.

Do you use pitch correction?

Only on request and after a clear conversation. Good live takes stay the base; correction is finishing work, not a replacement for prep — see vocal prep guide.
